Kaitiakitanga - Guardianship
We are a Tauranga based business providing stand up paddle boarding experiences and equipment to a growing paddle community.
My predecessors have been watermen/women for many years, and saw a gap in the market around 2010. They opened the business after identifying that stand up paddle boarding would be a fun way to explore the many corners of our Tauranga open waters.
After being in the industry for a few years, they started to uncover some other special qualities about the sport. They noticed immense changes in themselves, and also in their clients. They noticed that its not just the sport that drew them in, but the sense of well-being they received in the process.
They added to the business with their local knowledge and appreciation, a love for our whenua/land, our moana/water and all the beings that reside here. They spiced things up more with cultural and ecological awareness, adding further depth to what they did.
In 2016, ECP branched out to include waka ama, or outrigger canoes. So the stand up paddle boarding side of things is now a shared partnership between myself and my predecessors. I worked with them for some time, and shared the passion in what they were doing.
We have a great team of people who are all on the same page, pushing the same values which is based around 'Kaitiakitanga' - guardians of the earth, sea and beings. Quality service, quality equipment and quality SUP is also what we're dedicated to. Lastly, we value safety on the water and do our best to increase the awareness in our clients.
We aim to share the same wholistic experience my predecessors witnessed with anyone who chooses to paddle with us. We feel it, and we continue to see it build in our clients.
Ignite your ocean spirit, and watch your world expand.
